Annaleigh Ashford may not have scored a Tony nomination last week for her performance in the Broadway revival of Sylvia, but she got a heck of a consolation prize this week when she learned she is expecting her first child, a boy, according to People magazine.
Ashford, who won the 2015 Tony for Best Featured Actress in a Play for You Can't Take It With You, is married to actor Joe Tapper.
“We are so excited to be having a little boy,” Ashford told the magazine. “Now we’ll finally have a place to put all of Joe’s St. Louis Cardinals memorabilia.”
Ashford was previously Tony-nominated for her performance as factory worker Lauren in Kinky Boots. She appears on TV's Masters of Sex and is scheduled to play tapping groupie Columbia in this fall's FOX-TV adaptation of The Rocky Horror Picture Show.
Ashford's news was the third Broadway baby announcement in two days. On May 10 Audra McDonald and Will Swenson announced they were expecting, as did Carmen Ruby Floyd and J. Bernard Calloway.
