Tony nominee Ashley Park was recently hospitalized when a case of tonsillitis developed into a more serious infection. Park shared the news of her diagnosis and recovery via Instagram.

"As I sit here processing and recovering from the first few weeks of 2024, the only word I can think of is grateful," Park wrote. "While on holiday in December into New Years, what started as tonsillitis spiraled into critical septic shock, which infected and affected several of my organs. I am grateful that my health has improved despite what we had initially been told."

Park has appeared in numerous Broadway shows, including The King and ISunday in the Park with George, and Mean Girls, the latter of which earned her a Tony nomination for her performance as Gretchen Wieners. Park made a cameo in the 2024 Mean Girls movie musical, and is also known for her role in Netflix's Emily in Paris and in the comedy film Joy Ride.

"I hesitated to share what’s been happening as I’m still in the throes of recovery…but I now know I’m safely on the other side of the worst," the actor shared. "Thanks for reading this. I'm sorry for being so absent recently to so much and to people in my life. I love you all. I’m healing and I promise I’m gonna be okay."

She also thanked her Emily in Paris costar and boyfriend Paul Foreman for staying by her side. "I love you Paul. More than I can ever say."
