Awards American Repertory Theater’s Arrabal, The Color Purple Tour Among Boston's 2018 Elliot Norton Award Winners The 36th annual ceremony honored New England performer Leigh Barrett, who also won for her performances in Souvenir and Gypsy.

The 2018 Elliot Norton Awards, celebrating productions and artists in the Greater Boston theatre scene, were presented May 21 at the Huntington Avenue Theatre.

Among the big winners of the night were the American Repertory Theater production of Arrabal, which took home the award for Outstanding Musical Production and Outstanding Director (Large Theater) for Tony nominee Sergio Trujillo, as well as the national tour of The Color Purple, winning Outstanding Visiting Production and Outstanding Performance by an Actress in a Visiting Production for Adrianna Hicks.

The 36th annual ceremony also paid tribute to comedian Randy Rainbow as the Guest of Honor and presented Boston stage favorite Leigh Barrett with the Elliot Norton Prize for Sustained Excellence. Barrett also took home the award for Outstanding Musical Performance by an Actress for her work as both Florence Foster Jenkins in Souvenir and Rose in Gypsy at Lyric Stage Company.
