A private industry presentation of the new musical BeAPart is being presented September 30 in NYC. The new work, which press notes state is "about chosen family, gentrification, returning home, and the sweet, smoky love of barbecue," features a score by Christopher Lennertz (The Boys) and Amena Brown and a book by Francisca Da Silveira.
In the cast for the reading will be Amber Iman (Lempicka), Jennifer Damiano (Next to Normal), Brenda Braxton (Smokey Joe's Cafe), Marcus Paul James (Ain't Too Proud), Marcus M. Martin (Aladdin), Jaime Cepero (Smash), Brooke Simpson (1776), Alan Wiggins (The Lion King), Dwayne Clark (The Color Purple), and Khadija Sankoh (Little Shop of Horrors). Casting is by Linda Lamontagne.
Ellie Heyman is directing, with music direction by Issac Hayward. Kelly Kerwin is producing, and Amanda Lopez will stage manage.
