“If my heart has a song, it’s this one,” co-composer Kristen Anderson-Lopez says of the number. It’s one of a dozen songs she and husband/collaborator Robert Lopez wrote specifically for the musical—the first adaptation of Disney’s animated hit to expand upon the movie material.

Anna’s second act song takes place at a point where all hope seems lost. “It’s what she thinks is the end of her journey as she’s literally freezing to death because of everything that’s happened,” says Murin. “The hope she’s held onto for her entire life, despite everything that has happened—all of the sudden it’s gone. And she’s starting to accept the fact that this is it; this is where it’s all going to end. She takes on the onus that it’s basically her own fault.”

Contemplating the introspective solo further, Murin adds, “Had it been out before I was married and I was heartbroken, I would have locked myself in a room and listened to it over and over again.”

“True Love” is the fourth and final song to be released in the musical’s “#FrozenFridays” series, which offer a taste of some of the new numbers before the Michael Grandage-helmed production’s officially opening March 22. Fans previously heard Elsa’s solos “Dangerous to Dream” and “Monster,” as well as the Anna and Kristoff duet “What Do You Know About Love?
