In a new glimpse at Disney’s stage adaptation of Frozen, director Michael Grandage discusses bringing the musical to Broadway following its world premiere in Denver. Take a look above.
“You kind of get into a tunnel for a period with all your collaborators,” he says of the process when creating a show, “and when you come out of the tunnel, there’s this audience watching your work.”
Though the show did reach an audience in Denver last summer after nearly four years of development, it is by no means, well, frozen. Grandage and the creative team are at work on a variety of changes before its Broadway bow, which begins February 22 at the St. James Theatre.“There’s going to be quite a lot of changes between Denver and Broadway—most notably the opening and closing,” teases Grandage. “We’ve taken a lot of the music and reworked it… We’ve absolutely reworked a lot of the big choreographic numbers to make the narrative story within them even clearer and more exciting.”
Frozen, led by Caissie Levy and Patti Murin as Elsa and Anna, respectively, will open officially on Broadway March 22.
