Hiba Elchikhe, who has played Jasmine in the London and Australian productions of Disney's Aladdin, will take on the title role in the U.K. premiere of Brooklyn, the 2004 Broadway musical by Mark Schoenfeld and Barri McPherson. Previews begin September 27 at London’s Greenwich Theatre.

Adam Haigh directs and choreographs the production, which will officially open September 30 for a run through October 19.

Elchikhe, who is also slated to star in the Southwark Playhouse world premiere of Fiver, will be joined by Emily-Mae (Paradice), Sabrina Aloueche (Faith), John Addison (Taylor), Andrew Patrick-Walker (Streetsinger), and Jodie Beth Meyer (Alternate Brooklyn).

The pop musical tells a story within a story as a group of street singers relay the tale of a young woman from Paris who comes to America in search of fame and the father she never knew. Eden Espinosa starred in the Broadway premiere of the musical, which ran for 283 performances at the Plymouth Theatre (now the Schoenfeld).
