PS Classics, the record label devoted to the heritage of American musicals, will test newly-found orchestrations to Rodgers & Hart's 1929 musical, Spring Is Here, at a March 20 orchestra play-through toward a possible recording of the score.

Following its release of a new cast recording of the rare Vincent Youmans musical, Through the Years, and with a handful of American popular song discs under its belt, ps classics, the label devoted to the heritage of theatre music, will record Rodgers and Hart's 1929 musical comedy, Spring Is Here.

The work of Ira Gershwin (who died in 1983) keeps generating hundreds and hundreds of thousands of dollars every year. Happily for musical theatre fans, Ira and his wife Leonore (who died in 1991) formed the "Ira and Leonore Gershwin Fund at the Library of Congress." Since 1992, the Library of Congress is reported to have received well over $6 million — money that is poured back into theatre-related causes. Before her death, Lee Gershwin financed recordings of restored versions of five Gershwin musicals. Now, the Library of Congress fund and Mark Trent Goldberg, Executive Director of the Ira and Leonore Gershwin Trusts, have given us a two-CD set featuring two more musicals from 1925, Tip-Toes and Tell Me More.
