Ending days of speculation about the possibility of filing for bankruptcy protection, Livent Inc. and its U.S. subsidiaries filed a voluntary petition under Chapter 11 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code Nov. 18.

Garth H. Drabinsky, co-founder and guiding power behind the Toronto-based Livent Inc., has announced that he will turn over financial control of the major theatre-producing company to a management team controlled by former Disney and CAA executive Michael Ovitz, who also becomes a major stockholder in the company.

Rockwell Productions, which manages musical theatre productions at the Media Theatre in Media, PA, (just outside Philadelphia) and the Grand Candlelight Theatre in Milton, PA, abruptly announced Friday that it will cease operations early in December.

The Second Summer Potomac Theatre Festival will be in residence at Maryland's Olney Theatre Center, Aug. 3-29. According to Cheryl Faraone, one of Three Artistic Directors of the Potomac Theatre Project, the two play repertory examines how "it is a political act to create art at the end of the 20th century," through examining the lives of artists who disturbed the status quo.
