Douglas B. Leeds (Producer) Obituary

Douglas B. Leeds, an advertising executive who was a producer and vice-chairman of the American Theater Wing, died of cancer on May 9 2011, in New York City. He was 63.

Mr. Leeds joined the Wing in 1990, and was elected secretary-treasurer the following year. He became vice-chairman in 2003 and then president in 2004. He was vice-chairman once again at the time of his death.

Mr. Leeds was also a producer. He produced the Broadway show Street Heat in 1980 and co-produced Sleight of Hand in 1987.

His interest in theatre notwithstanding, his bread and butter was advertising. He was founder and CEO of indoor billboard company StoreBoard Media. Before that he was president and CEO of Thomson-Leeds Co., a point-of-purchase advertising firm with clients such as American Express, Sony, Ford and Microsoft. Mr. Leeds also served on the board of the Whitney Museum of American Art and on the Council of the Frick Museum.

He is survived by his wife, Anki; a daughter; his mother; and his sister.
