GERSHON:
A complex individual marked by the scars of his past. Once a vibrant soul with dreams larger than life, the atrocities of war and loss have transformed him into a figure of cynicism and vengeance. In his mid-thirties, Gershon carries the weight of the world on his shoulders. Despite his hardened exterior, Gershon's actions are driven by a deep sense of loyalty and love, particularly towards those he considers family. However, this same intensity makes him susceptible to destructive paths, especially when guided by his perception of justice and retribution.
MENDEL:
Presents a contrast to Gershon's fiery spirit with his more contemplative and reserved demeanor. At 35, he is a man of faith and introspection, wearing his glasses like a shield against the world's harsh realities. Despite his calm exterior, Mendel harbors deep-seated guilt and a turbulent emotional world, often manifesting in a manipulative streak that he wields in desperate attempts to maintain control.
SARAH:
The spectral presence that haunts both Gershon and Mendel, a symbol of lost innocence and the devastating impact of war. Though she never appears directly in the narrative, her memory exerts a powerful influence over the characters' actions and emotions. Sarah is represented as the age she died at, 15 years old.
FILIP:
The younger figure shadowed by the legacy of his uncle Mietek, is caught in the crossfire of Gershon and Mendel's tumultuous history. He represents the next generation, one that bears the scars of the past while looking towards an uncertain future.
