DESCRIPTION

Starline Theatre Company’s first production will be a reading of La Gaviota, an adaptation of Chekhov’s The Seagull! Currently a work in progress, Starline Theatre Co is looking for performers who are excited about developmental theatre and collaboration at its finest. La Gaviota explores the family dynamics of a Hispanic household through the lens of Chekhov’s classic play. This adaptation plays with English & Spanish and aims to break a barrier for those who aren’t fluent in both languages through emotional connection.

Seeking the following cast:

Irina Arkadina, 40s, an actress, Hispanic, speaks Spanish

Petruso Sorino, 40s-60s, her brother, Hispanic, speaks Spanish

Shamier, 30s-40s, a retired lieutenant, Hispanic, speaks Spanish

Polina, 30s-40s, his wife, non-Hispanic, speaks no Spanish

Masha, 20s, his daughter, half-Hispanic, speaks no Spanish but understands it

Boris Trigorin, 20s-30s, a writer, non-Hispanic, speaks some Spanish

Dorn, 30s-40s, a doctor, non-Hispanic, speaks little Spanish

Semion Medenko, 20s, a teacher, Hispanic, speaks Spanish

Yako, 20s, a workman, Hispanic, speaks Spanish
