Rehearsals: Monday through Friday, 3:30pm to 6:00pm, following Packer’s school calendar
Overview:
Packer Collegiate Institute seeks an Upper School Musical Director to lead a high-caliber musical production. This role requires an experienced theater professional who can manage and inspire high school performers and coordinate with the entire creative team to produce a professional-quality show.
Responsibilities:
* Coordinate and direct auditions/callbacks and collaborate with the Musical Director and Choreographer with casting decisions based on the needs of the production.
* Oversee all aspects of the production, from staging, music, choreography, and technical elements to ensure a cohesive experience
* Schedule and direct staging rehearsals, creating a cohesive vision for the production that aligns with the artistic goals and talents of the cast
* Collaborate with the Musical Director and Choreographer to integrate music and choreography, ensuring a unified artistic vision
* Lead and contribute to production staff meetings, discussing artistic needs, set and costume requirements, and technical support
* Schedule and coordinate sitzprobe/wandelprobe with Music Director and Choreographer
* Foster an inclusive, supportive rehearsal environment, encouraging students to explore their roles and grow as performers.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor’s degree in Theater or related field preferred
* Experience in directing high school or professional musical theater productions.
* Extensive knowledge of Musical Theatre shows and repertory.
* Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
* Collaborative, with a demonstrated ability to work with a creative team and motivate students.
* Ability to create a positive learning environment that challenges and supports student performers.
Compensation: $9000
This position is classified as exempt and is compensated through a stipend. The individual will be employed as a W2 employee.
