DESCRIPTION

Costume Shop Manager/Assistant Designer: The Costume Shop Manager/Assistant Designer oversees the construction, organization, and artistic realization of costumes for Totem Pole Playhouse's fast-paced 5-show summer season. This position collaborates closely with designers, contributes creatively to costume design choices, and ensures the timely delivery and quality of all wardrobe assets. Strong leadership, design interpretation, and excellent communication skills are essential for success in this role. This position reports to the Production Manager and may work alongside other technical crew members as needed.

Key Responsibilities:
Organize build and fitting schedules to ensure all costumes and wardrobe assets are completed and delivered on time.
Assist in a hands-on capacity with the construction, pulling, and acquisition of all costumes and wardrobe needs for productions.
Collaborate with designers to interpret and execute costume designs, including offering creative input when needed.
Maintain and manage materials and labor budgets for all costume-related expenses.
Oversee fittings with guest artists and ensure compliance with all costume-related aspects of the CBA with AEA.
Supervise the wardrobe crew, ensuring accurate daily show paperwork and costume maintenance.
Maintain strong working relationships with vendors, including rental houses, wholesalers, and local over-hire resources.
Flag and communicate when shop capacity may not meet the scope of a production's design.
Participate in daily wardrobe show prep and clean-up after the opening of Beautiful.
Perform other duties traditionally associated with this job title in live theatrical production.
Source and support costumes for the Tucked Away Tuesday and Camp Series as needed.

Requirements:
Proven expertise in costume construction and administration, with strong design interpretation and collaboration skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with a variety of personalities and display strong leadership skills.
Physical capability to work on tall ladders, lift at least 30 lbs., and manage long, physically demanding hours.
Comfort working with vintage and dusty fabrics.
Must be a capable driver with a valid driver's license.

$500.00 – $600.00 per week
