American Idiot and Jagged Little Pill co-producer Vivek J. Tiwary's Tiwary Entertainment Group (TEG+) has acquired the stage rights to Will Eisner’s graphic novel A Contract With God. Variety reports that the Broadway-aimed musical will feature new and original songs by an all-Jewish songwriting team of Sam Hollander, Lisa Loeb, Matisyahu, Ryan Miller, and Jill Sobule. Tiwary is currently seeking a book writer.

Published in 1978, the graphic novel revolves around poor Jewish characters living in a tenement building in New York City, and was followed with two sequels, A Life Force and Dropsie Avenue. Hollander will also serve as music producer for the project.

Announced earlier this year, TEG+ is also adapting Crockett Johnson's 1955 children's book Harold and the Purple Crayon, about a young boy who uses a magical crayon to create the world around him, into a stage musical with original songs by indie pop group AJR members Jack and Ryan Met. As of March, the project was seeking a book writer.
