Video Watch: Brandon Uranowitz Has Feelings About Turning 30 in Tick, Tick...BOOM!

The splashy Neil Patrick Harris-directed revival of the Jonathan Larson musical has dropped some video highlights.

A new production of Jonathan Larson's tick, tick...BOOM!, which began performances at Washington, D.C.'s Kennedy Center January 26, continues through February 4 with Tony winner Neil Patrick Harris at the helm. See highlights from the new staging above.

Starring are Tony winner Brandon Uranowitz as Jon, Denée Benton as Susan, and Grey Henson as Michael. The staging newly adds an ensemble to the show, comprised here by Kennedy Caughell, Kelvin Moon Loh, Yael "Yaya" Reich, and Nikhil Saboo.

The musical follows the young composer during a milestone birthday in 1990, through his theatrical ambitions and his relationships and friendships against the backdrop of the AIDS epidemic. The work started life as a “rock monologue” that Larson, best known for his Broadway musical Rent, performed as a solo show. Five years after his 1996 death, the work was adapted into a three-character musical, with David Auburn filling in as a script consultant. That version has since played Off-Broadway, in London, and at theatres around the world. Lin-Manuel Miranda directed a 2021 film adaptation for Netflix starring Andrew Garfield.

Best known as a Tony-winning screen and stage actor, Harris previously directed productions of Rent at The Hollywood Bowl, The Expert at the Card Table at the Broad Stage Theater, and Nothing to Hide at The Geffen Playhouse, along with an episode of How I Met Your Mother, the TV series Harris starred in from 2005-2014.

The Kennedy Center production, part of its Broadway Center Stage series, features choreography by Paul McGill, music supervision by Stephen Oremus, music direction by Ben Cohn, scenic and projection design by Paul Tate dePoo III, video and projection design by Nathan Scheuer, costume design by Andrea Hood, lighting design by Cory Pattak, and sound design by Haley Parcher. Casting is by JZ Casting.
