Watch the entire concert below.
Singers performing in the event include Broadway favorites Jessica Vosk (Wicked) and Tony Yazbeck (On the Town), along with Nadine Sierra, Thomas Hampson, Susan Graham, and Isabel Leonard.
The concert also pays homage to Bernstein's incomparable conducting career, featuring a host of world-renowned conductors—including film composer John Williams, Michael Tilson Thomas, Keith Lockhart, and BSO music director Andris Nelsons—taking the podium to offer selections such Bernstein-associated works as Aaron Copland's Appalachian Spring and Mahler's Resurrection symphony. On hand for instrumental spotlights were violinist Midori and cellist Yo-Yo Ma.
This multi-media event also includes video montages about Bernstein’s life and messages from people around the world who have been inspired by his legacy as a musician and as a dominant cultural figure of his time.
Also recently made available to stream is PBS' Great Performances presentation of Vienna Philharmonic's New Year's celebration, featuring the Vienna State Balet.
