The Off-Broadway return of the Stranger Things parody musical Stranger Sings! officially opened at Playhouse 46 at St. Luke's September 22.
Cast members Harley Seger and SLee stopped by the Playbill Studio to share a song from the show in the video above.
Nick Flatto reprises his direction from the 2021 Off-Broadway run, reuniting with original music director, orchestrator, and arranger Michael Kaish and choreographer Ashley Marinelli.
Also back from the original production are cast members Caroline Huerta and Garrett Poladian newly joined by Jean Christian Barry, Jamir Brown, Jeremiah Garcia, Dashiell Gregory, Jeffrey Laughrun, Hannah Clarke Levine, and Shawn W. Smith.
Joining the production's creative team are scenic designer Walt Spangler, costume designer Matthew Solomon, lighting designer Jamie Roderick, co-sound designers Germán Martínez and Cosette Pin, prop supervisor Brendan McCann, production stage manager Kathleen Rose Gallardo, and assistant stage manager Lara Sato. The production is cast by Zachary Spiegel.
Jonathan Hogue penned the book, music, and lyrics for the production, which is set in Hawkins, Indiana, in 1983 when times were simpler, hair was bigger, and unsupervised children were getting snatched by inter-dimensional creatures.
Stranger Sings! The Parody Musical had its world premiere at Feinstein’s/54 Below October 13, 2018. The show subsequently played Off-Broadway's The Players Theatre in summer 2021. The 2021 original cast recording is available on all major platforms.
The Off-Broadway return is produced by Sue Gilad, Larry Rogowsky, Nick Flatto, and Jonathan Hogue.
