Get ready for some harmonies. Swept Away just released a first look at the show's score, with a new music video of one of the songs from the show, sung by Adrian Blake Enscoe, Stark Sands, John Gallagher, Jr., and Wayne Duvall. See the song "A Gift for Melody Anne" in the video above.
Swept Away features music from folk duo the Avett Brothers. It follows four survivors of an 1888 shipwreck off the coast of New Bedford, Massachusetts. As they struggle to stay alive, they must question whether or not they can live with the consequences of their actions, and discover how tragedy can lead to forgiveness. Swept Away begins performances October 29 at the Longacre Theatre, with an opening night of November 19.
The show also stars Hunter Brown, Matt DeAngelis, Cameron Johnson, Brandon Kalm, Michael J. Mainwaring, Orville Mendoza, Tyrone L. Robinson, and John Sygar. New to the musical's company are Josh Breckenridge, Rico LeBron, John Michael Finley, Chase Peacock, Robert Pendilla, and David Rowen.
The new work features a book by Tony winner John Logan and direction by Tony winner Michael Mayer.
The creative team also includes choreographer David Neumann, music arranger and orchestrator Chris Miller, music arranger and orchestrator/music supervisor Brian Usifer, music director Will Van Dyke, Tony-winning set designer Rachel Hauck, Tony-winning costume designer Susan Hilferty, four-time Tony-winning lighting designer Kevin Adams, Tony-winning sound designer John Shivers, and casting directors Jim Carnahan, Jillian Cimini, and Alexandre Bleau.
Swept Away is produced by Matthew Masten, Sean Hudock, Madison Wells Live, Louise Gund, and Kate Cannova and executive-produced by Wagner Johnson Productions.
The show had previous runs at Berkeley Repertory and Arena Stage.
