An updated version of Spamilton begins performances at the 47th Street Theatre/The Puerto Rican Traveling Theater, June 2—around the corner from Broadway’s Richard Rodgers Theatre, where Hamilton is currently playing. The musical parody, which previously played The Triad, is set to play an open-ended engagement in its new home.
Penned by Forbidden Broadway creator Gerard Alessandrini, Spamilton is a musical parody of Lin-Manuel Miranda’s smash hit. The show debuted last fall at The Triad, where it was originally scheduled to only play 18 performances, but continued to extend due to popular demand.
As promised, the show has been updated for its new Off-Broadway theatre, and now features references to the current Broadway season, including: Hello, Dolly! star Bette Midler, Anastasia, Sunset Boulevard’s Glenn Close, Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and others.
The updated Spamilton is set to officially open June 19. The current cast features Dan Rosales, Nicole Vanessa Ortiz, Chris Anthony Giles, Aaron Michael Ray, and Tristan J. Shuler.
The hit show is also playing an open-ended run in Chicago at the Royal George Theatre’s Cabaret/Studio Theatre, and will kick off a national tour in Los Angeles beginning in the fall.
