Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, which wrapped its four-season run on Netflix in January, will return next year in a new interactive special. Series creators Tina Fey and Robert Carlock are producing the encore offering, which will allow fans to make decisions on behalf of the show’s characters.

Core Kimmy Schmidt cast members Ellie Kemper, Tituss Burgess, Jane Krakowski, and Carol Kane have all signed on for the special that is set to air in February 2020.

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt was one of the first original comedy series on Netflix, and now it will be its first interactive comedy event,” Fey said in a statement.” Fans will be able to make choices on behalf of our characters, taking different story paths with, of course, different jokes. I think it’s a great fit for our show and will be a great way to officially complete the series.”

Netflix also deployed the "choose your own adventure" format on Black Mirror: Bandersnatch in December.

The show, about a cult survivor reinventing her life in New York City, often satirized the theatre industry, from an illegal, unlicensed production of The Lion King to a conspiracy theory regarding Cats.
