Cabaret & Concert News Transport Group Plans Concert Versions of Man of La Mancha and Promises, Promises The Off-Broadway troupe will host the productions at Merkin Hall in New York City.

Two of the longest-running musicals of the 1960s will get concert performances at the Merkin Concert Hall in New York City in the coming months: Man of La Mancha December 18, 2017, and Promises, Promises on June 25, 2018, both at 8 PM.

The revivals are being hosted by the Off-Broadway Transport Group as part of its Anne L. Bernstein Concert Series. Both concerts will be directed by Transport Group Artistic Director Jack Cummings III and will feature original orchestrations. Casting will be announced at a later date.

Based on the novel Don Quixote, Man of La Mancha has a book by Dale Wasserman, music by Mitch Leigh, and lyrics by Joe Darion. It ran 2,328 performances and has been revived on Broadway four times.

Promises, Promises has a book by Neil Simon, based on the screenplay The Apartment by Billy Wilder and I.A.L. Diamond, with music by Burt Bacharach and lyrics by Hal David. It ran 1,281 performances and has been revived on Broadway once.

Previous presentations in the Anne L. Bernstein Concert Series, which launched in 2012, include Baby, Once Upon a Mattress, The Music Man, Peter Pan, and A Man of No Importance.
