Tony-Winning Skylight Goes Out With a Bang | Playbill

News Tony-Winning Skylight Goes Out With a Bang Winning the Tony Award for Best Revival of a Play helped boost Skylight to a record-breaking final week of its limited run.

The Broadway revival of David Hare's Skylight––starring Carey Mulligan, Bill Nighy and Matthew Beard who all re-created their acclaimed London performances––set a new house record at the Golden Theatre, grossing $927,539.38 for the week ending June 21, the final week of the production’s limited engagement run. The show was sold out clean for the entire week, and closed Sunday night, June 21, as scheduled.

It breaks the house record set this past October by the revival of Edward Albee’s A Delicate Balance, which grossed $884,596 during its first week of previews.

Directed by two-time Tony Award winner Stephen Daldry (Billy Elliot, An Inspector Calls), the West End import began performances March 13 and opened its 13-week limited engagement April 2.

The production earned the Tony Award for Best Revival of the Play. Each of the play's stars were Tony-nominated for their work. The play recouped its investment in late May.
