Plowright's vision began to decline 10 years ago from macular degeneration. She made an appearance last month at St. Mary's House in Bramber to be interviewed by director Richard Digby Day about her life.
Plowright has also been seen on Broadway in The Chairs and The Lesson, Filumena, The Best House in Naples and The Entertainer, in which she appeared with Olivier. The Laurence Olivier Awards were named in honor of Olivier in 1984.
