Anthony LaPaglia, a 1998 Tony winner for his performance as Eddie in the Tony-winning revival of Arthur Miller's A View From the Bridge, will head the cast of another Miller classic this fall in Australia.
The stage and screen star will play the ill-fated Willy Loman in GWB Entertainment and Red Line Productions' staging of Miller's Pulitzer Prize-winning Death of a Salesman at Melbourne's Her Majesty's Theatre. Previews will begin September 1 under the direction of Neil Armfield (Cloudstreet, The Diary of a Madman, Exit the King).
Australian native LaPaglia will be joined by Alison Whyte as Linda Loman, Steve Bastoni as Charley, Richard Piper as Ben Loman, Josh Helman as Biff, and Sean Keenan as Happy with additional casting to be announced.
Death of a Salesman originally opened February 10, 1949, at the Morosco Theatre. The production won six Tony Awards, including Best Play, the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, and the New York Drama Critics Circle Award for Best Play. The recent Broadway revival is currently nominated for two 2023 Tony Awards, for Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Play (Wendell Pierce) and Best Lighting Design of a Play (Jen Schriever).
The upcoming production will feature set design by Dale Ferguson, costume design by Dale Ferguson and Sophie Woodward, lighting design by Niklas Pajanti, music by Alan John, and sound design by David Greasley.
Tickets will go on sale June 8 via Salesmanaustralia.com.au.
