Off-Broadway News Theater for the New City Will Present 25th Anniversary Production of Orson's Shadow

Playwright Austin Pendleton will direct his own work, which follows Orson Welles, Laurence Olivier, and Vivien Leigh as they clash in a theatre production.

Off Broadway's Theater for the New City will present a 25th anniversary production of Austin Pendleton's Orson's Shadow. Pendleton will direct his work chronicling a clash between Orson Welles, Laurence Olivier, and Vivien Leigh during a theatre production. It will play the downtown venue March 14-31. 

Set in 1960s London, the work first premiered in New York at Barrow Street Theatre in 2005.

The cast will include Brad Fryman as Orson Welles, Ryan Tramont as Laurence Olivier, Patrick Hamilton as Kenneth Tynan, Luke Hofmaier as Sean the Stage Manager, Natalie Menna as Vivien Leigh, and Kim Taff as Joan Plowright.

Orson's Shadow will feature lighting design by Alexander Bartenieff, costume design by Billy Little, sound design by Nick Moore, co-direction by David Schweitzer, and stage management by Jose Ruiz. Robert Greer, Brad Fryman and Ryan Tramont serve as co-producers. Orson's Shadow is presented in association with Oberon Theatre Ensemble and Strindberg Rep.
