London News The Lightning Thief Musical Sets London Premiere

Adapted from the book series by Rob Rokicki and Joe Tracz, the musical played a brief Broadway run in 2019.

The Lightning Thief will make a London debut at The Other Palace later this year. Adapted from Rick Riordan's book series, the musical features a book by Joe Tracz and songs by Rob Rokicki.

Performances will begin November 23, with the limited run continuing through February 2, 2025. Bill Kenwright Ltd and Paul Taylor-Mills are presenting.

The rock musical follows teenager Percy Jackson, who discovers he's the half-blood son of Greek god Poseidon. The musical was originally developed by TheatreWorks USA as an hour-long musical for young audiences, with the full-length version debuting Off-Broadway in 2017. Following a U.S. tour, the musical got a brief Broadway run in 2019.

The London bow will be a new staging of the show, this time directed and choreographed by Lizzi Gee (Groundhog Day). The project is Gee's directorial debut.

"Lizzi was the obvious choice for me to direct this wonderful piece of theatre," says Taylor-Mills in a statement. "I spotted early on she had a creative vision like no other and her energy is captivating. I cannot wait to see her bring this epic story to life on stage."

Casting is to be announced.
