Are you ready to get shucked?
Broadway's Shucked officially opened at the Nederlander Theatre April 4. In celebration, Playbill tested the shucking skills of the show's cast, creative team, and esteemed guests. Who could shuck corn faster: a member of Shucked or a red carpet celebrity? The challenge was simple: Whoever could shuck a single ear of corn the fastest wins for their team!
Everyone from Kristin Chenoweth to Tariq the Corn Kid tried their hand, with a variety of shucking techniques on display for the red carpet.

The farm-fresh musical comedy proved to be a buzzy opening night ticket, with country music star Kasey Musgraves, comedy icon Rachel Dratch, and plenty of Broadway stalwarts showing up in support. Read more of Playbill's coverage from Shucked's opening night here.
Shuckedtakes place in Cobb County where the population is small and the corn fields are endless. But trouble occurs when the corn crop starts dying and young Maizy (Caroline Innerbichler) must travel outside her town to find help.
The new musical features a book by Tony winner Robert Horn (Tootsie, 13) and a score by Grammy-winning Nashville-based duo Brandy Clark and Shane McAnally. Three-time Tony winner Jack O'Brien (Hairspray, The Front Page) is at the helm.
Filmed in 2023, the one-night-only event featured Brian Stokes Mitchell, Audra McDonald, Peter Friedman, and more from the Ahrens and Flaherty musical's original cast.
Surrounded by period-accurate, 19th-century holiday decorations lit via candlelight, the 70-minute production is based on Dickens' own script of the classic.
