Sutton Foster will star alongside fellow Tony Award winner Hugh Jackman in the upcoming Broadway revival of The Music Man. As previously reported, the Jerry Zaks-directed production will start September 9, 2020, before officially opening October 22, 2020, at a Shubert theatre to be announced.

The production will also feature choreography by Tony winner Warren Carlyle, who last collaborated with Zaks on Hello, Dolly!.

Foster, known for her powerhouse belt, will channel her soprano side as Marian Paroo, the role created by the late Barbara Cook and portrayed on screen by Shirley Jones. The two-time Tony winner (for Anything Goes and Thoroughly Modern Millie) last appeared on the Broadway stage in Violet; additional credits include Shrek, Young Frankenstein, The Drowsy Chaperone, Little Women, and the recent Off-Broadway revival of Sweet Charity.

Outside of the theatre district, TV audiences know her as 40-something millennial Liza Miller on TV Land/Paramount's Younger.

Jackman's involvement and co-star were perhaps foreshadowed during his hosting stint at the 2014 Tony Awards, during which the Oscar nominee performed a sample of The Music Man's opener "Rock Island" with T.I. and LL Cool J. Later in the evening, as he introduced the nominees for Best Actress in a Musical, Jackman pulled Foster (nominated for Violet) into the aisle for a quick dance.

Additional casting will be announced at a later date.
