The queer romantic comedy film Sunset Road, starring Broadway's Janet Krupin, is now available to stream on Amazon Prime.
A twist on Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, the film is set in Washington’s vibrant wine country as two rival wine-making families—one known for its Merlot, the other for its Cabernet—go head to head.
The film stars Krupin as Etta Campbell, a member of the Cabernet-producing Campbell family, opposite Diana Milton, who plays Oryn Montgomery from the Merlot family. Their budding relationship takes center stage as the family dispute threatens to crush their burgeoning joy. Tony winner Santino Fontana (Tootsie, Frozen) plays a lawyer entangled in the dispute.
Also directed by Krupin (If/Then, Hands on a Hardbody, Bring It On), Sunset Road features an original score by Halley Greg and was filmed on location at several Washington wineries, including Hightower Cellars, Frichette, Avennia, and Fidélitas.
Krupin, Milton, and Fontana are joined by Sam Shick as Papa Campbell,
Dara Quinn as Mama Montgomery, and Greg, who plays herself. The film
also features LGBTQ+ social media star Jubilee.
Produced by Steve Lee, Jeremy Sandoval served as cinematographer and Turner Riley as editor.
