Director of Broadway's Ain't No Mo' Stevie Walker-Webb is heading south to helm the upcoming production of Life is a Dream at Baltimore Center Stage. The María Irene Fornés play will run May 4-21 at the Maryland theatre.

The production marks a return for Walker-Webb who has previously directed the theatre's productions of The Folks at Home and Our Town. “It is a major full-circle moment for Baltimore Center Stage as we welcome back Stevie Walker-Webb to our company,” said Interim Artistic Director Ken-Matt Martin. Walker-Webb kicked off the Baltimore Center Stage's 60th anniversary season and will also close it with the upcoming production.

Fornés adapted the 17th century Pedro Calderón de la Barca play which follows Segismund, a prince whose right to rule has been denied him over a prophecy claiming he will be the downfall of the realm. Having spent his life locked in a tower, he believes he's finally getting his first chance at freedom when a mysterious visitor arrives. But will it turn out the way that he thinks?

Starring in the production will be Nancy Linden, Andrea Morales, Kené Chelo Ortiz, Erin Margaret Pettigrew, Gerardo Rodriguez, Christopher Sears, O’Malley Steuerman, and Jak Watson.

Joining Walker-Webb on the creative team will be scenic designer Anton Volovsek, lighting designer Cha See, costume designer kindall houston almond, sound designer Tosin Olufolabi, wig designer Dan Galyon, fight director Casey Kaleba, and composer Karena Ingram.

Accompanying the run will be a series of community events, including a Papel Picado workshop and Fornés Symposium as part of Sueños y Reflexiones May 13-14. The workshop will be presented by Artesanas from CIELO and the symposium will be presented in partnership with the Latinx Theatre Commons and the Fornés Institute. Additional programming will be announced at a later date.
