Lincoln Center Theater has found the principal cast for its previously announced revival of Anton Chekhov's Uncle Vanya. The new translation by Tony nominee Heidi Schreck (What the Constitution Means to Me) will begin previews April 2, 2024, ahead of an April 24 opening night at the Vivian Beaumont Theater.

Television and film star Steve Carell will make his Broadway debut in the title role of the Chekhov classic. Tony nominee Alison Pill (Three Tall Women, The Lieutenant of Inishmore) will star as Vanya's niece Sonya. The two previously appeared together in the film Dan in Real Life. 

The starry cast will also include Emmy nominee William Jackson Harper (The Good Place, All the Way) as Astrov, Tony winner Jayne Houdyshell as Mama Voinitski, Mia Katigbak as Marina, three-time Tony nominee Alfred Molina (Art, Red) as Alexander Serabryakov, and Tony winner Anika Noni Rose (Caroline, Or Change) as Yelena.

Carell is an Oscar nominee for the film Foxcatcher. He spent seven seasons as Michael Scott, regional manager of the Dunder Miflin paper company on the television mocumentary series The Office. For his work on The Office he was nominated for several Emmy Awards and won a Golden Globe. 

Lila Neugebauer will direct, in her second Main Stem production of the season—she's currently in rehearsals for Branden Jacobs-Jenkins' Appropriate at Second Stage. Additional casting is still to be announced. 

The production will feature scenic design by Mimi Lien, costumes by Kaye Voyce, lighting by Lap Chi Chu, and sound by Mikhail Fiksel and Beth Lake. Charles M. Turner III will be the stage manager.
