Film & TV News Sophie Okonedo Joins Netflix's Heart of Stone

The Tony winner made her Broadway debut as Ruth Younger in the 2014 revival of A Raisin in the Sun.

Tony winner Sophie Okonedo has joined the cast of Netflix's Heart of Stone, starring Wonder Woman's Gal Gadot, Jamie Dornan (Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar), and Bollywood actor Alia Bhatt, according to Deadline

In addition to Okonedo, newly announced for the cast are Matthias Schweighöfer, who starred in two Berlin theatre productions before getting his breakthrough role starring, directing, and producing Netflix's Army of Thieves; Paul Ready; and Jing Lusi.

Plot details have yet to be disclosed.

Heart of Stone is directed by Tom Harper (Peaky Blinders) with a script by Allison Schroeder (Hidden Figures) and comic book writer Greg Rucka. Harper, Rucka, and Patty Whitcher are executive producing. Gadot, David Ellison, Dana Goldberg and Don Granger, Bonnie Curtis, Julie Lynn, Jaron Varsano are listed as producers.

Okonedo made her Broadway debut as Ruth Younger in the 2014 revival of A Raisin in the Sun, opposite Denzel Washington, subsequently winning the Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Play. She also played Elizabeth Proctor in the 2016 revival of The Crucible.

Ready starred as Romeo in National Youth Theatre's production of Romeo and Juliet, opposite Rosamund Pike. The British actor was featured in West End productions of One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest and A Woman Killed With Kindness. Lusi's previous roles include playing Amanda Ling in the movie Crazy Rich Asians and the lead role of Vicky Chun in Gangs of London.
