The SoHo Playhouse has announced details of its 2019–2020 season, which will launch with the American premiere of Henry Naylor’s Games, running October 10–November 24. Playhouse Artistic Director Darren Lee Cole will direct the drama about Jewish athlete Helene Mayer, who was selected for the Nazis' Olympic Squad in 1936.

The Playhouse’s 2019 Fringe Encore Series will run November 29–December 31, including plays from international festivals from the U.S. and around the globe, including Adelaide, Auckland, Orlando, Brighton, Hollywood, Edinburgh, Vancouver, and Scranton.

The Latina Christmas Special, created by Maria Russell, Sandra Valls, and Diana Yanez, will make its New York debut December 13–January 5, 2020.

The new year will kick off with the inaugural New Zealand Festival of Plays beginning January 3. Selected works include Tusiata Avia’s Wild Dogs Under My Skin; The Modern Māori Quartet: Two Worlds, by James Tito, Matariki Whatarau, Maaka Pohatu, and Francis Kora; and Contours of Heaven, by Ana Chaya Scotney, Puti Lancaster, Marama Beamish, and Owen McCarthy.

Happy Birthday Doug, a new play from Bright Colors and Bold Patterns writer Drew Droege, will run February 6–March 1 under the direction of Tom DeTrinis.

The season will close with a new work from Scottish comedian Daniel Sloss, known for his Netflix series Live Shows, with dates to be announced in February.
