As the fall semester begins, Situation Project is launching a new season of programming aimed at engaging students from elementary school to college in the vibrant world of live performance. The initiative, known for its dedication to fostering access to the arts for underserved communities, is offering a range of experiences designed to inspire students and introduce them to career possibilities within the arts.

This fall, a group of Arts Management students from Carnegie Mellon University will participate in a career workshop at the Situation Group offices. The workshop provides these college students with the chance to gain valuable insights from industry professionals, explore career paths in arts management, and develop a deeper understanding of the business side of the creative industry. By bridging academic learning with real-world experience, the workshop supports the next generation of arts leaders as they prepare for their careers.

For younger students, Situation Project has partnered with the hit musical Hell’s Kitchen to bring over 500 middle schoolers to attend live performances. The show, which highlights the lived experiences of New York City’s youth, offers students the rare opportunity to see stories that reflect their own lives on stage. The program is designed not only to entertain but also to empower young audiences by demonstrating that their voices and experiences are important and worthy of representation in mainstream theatre.

Additionally, students will be exposed to the beauty and athleticism of professional dance through performances by Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater and The Nutcracker at New York City Center. These opportunities provide students—many of whom are experiencing live professional dance for the first time—with an introduction to the performing arts that can ignite a lifelong passion and appreciation for culture. Alvin Ailey’s powerful choreography and the timeless holiday magic of The Nutcracker promise to leave lasting impressions on these young audiences.

Through its fall programming, Situation Project continues its mission of making the arts accessible to all students, regardless of their background. By providing these transformative experiences, the organization is ensuring that young people across New York City not only have the chance to engage with the arts but also see themselves reflected in the stories being told on stage. As the season progresses, these performances will help shape a new generation of creators, thinkers, and leaders in the arts.
