Broadway News Shucked Closes on Broadway January 14

The corn-y comedy has a North American tour and a West End premiere in its future.

Shucked closes on Broadway January 14 at the Nederlander Theatre. The Tony-nominated musical played 28 previews and 327 regular performances.

A North American tour will be launching in the fall, and a 2025 West End debut is also in the works. Australia will reportedly get a production in spring 2026.

The Broadway production of Shucked received nine Tony nominations in 2023, with Alex Newell winning for Best Featured Actor in a Musical for their performance as Lulu.

In addition to Newell, the current Broadway cast also stars Isabelle McCalla as Maizy, John Behlmann as Gordy, Kevin Cahoon as Peanut, Andrew Durand as Beau, Ashley D. Kelley as Storyteller 1, and Grey Henson as Storyteller 2.

Shucked features music by Brandy Clark and Shane McAnally, a book by Robert Horn, choreography by Sarah O'Gleby, and music supervision, music direction, orchestrations, and arrangements by Jason Howland. Scenic design is by Scott Pask with costume design by Tilly Grimes, lighting design by Japhy Weideman, sound design by John Shivers, and wig design by Mia Neal. John Miller is the music coordinator, Billy Jay Stein and Hiro Iida of Strange Cranium designed the electronic music, and Juniper Street Productions handles production management.
