According to press notes, minor•ity takes place at an international African arts conference's Diamond Jubilee celebration, where the panel lineup causes a stir. Newcomer Sami Monroe, a directing prodigy from America, joins jaded veteran painter Céza Depina and formerly banned storyteller, Cheikh Malick Diallo. As they prepare for each panel discussion, generational and cultural differences manifest, and a fierce competition emerges between the three artists.
The production will feature set design by Brittany Vasta, costume design by Celeste Jennings, lighting design by Daisy Long, sound design by Tosin Olufolabi, and props design by Samantha Tutasi. The statge management team will include Caren Celine Morris and Siobhan Peterson.
Minor•ity was commissioned by Colt Coeur in 2021 in partnership with the Virginia B. Toulmin Foundation.
