Donmar Warehouse's production of Lynn Nottage’s Intimate Apparel has found its complete company. Beginning performances June 20, the production will officially open June 26, and run through August 9.
Starring Samira Wiley as Esther, the production will also feature Nicola Hughes as Mrs Dickson, Claudia Jolly as Mrs. Van Buren, Kadiff Kirwan as George, Faith Omole as Mayme, and Alex Waldmann as Mr. Marks.
The work follows Esther, an exquisite sewist of lingerie who dreams of opening her own beauty salon and falling in love in 1905 New York. When she begins to receive beautiful letters from a lonesome stranger, it looks like it could just be her ticket to happiness.
Directed by Lynette Linton, the production will feature set and costume design by Alex Berry, wigs, hair and make up design by Cynthia de la Rosa, lighting design by Jai Morjaria, sound design by George Dennis, original music by XANA, video design by Gino Ricardo Green, movement and intimacy direction Shelley Maxwell, and voice and dialect coaching by Hazel Holder. Casting is by Lotte Hines and Anna Cooper.
The production reunites double Pulitzer Prize-winning writer Nottage with director Linton, following their sell-out productions of Sweat and Clyde’s, also for the Donmar.
