Casting is now complete for The Weathervane Theatre's invitation-only workshop presentations of Gallery—an unproduced musical by late Tony- and Pulitzer Prize-winning A Chorus Line lyricist Ed Kleban—March 19 at 1 PM and 6 PM at the AMT Theatre.
Tony winner Richard Maltby, Jr., who conceived the musical with Linda Kline (A Class Act), will direct a cast that includes the previously reported three-time Tony nominee Mary Testa (Oklahoma!, 42nd Street, On the Town), Robert H. Fowler (The Producers, Beauty and the Beast), Jorge Donoso (At the Wedding), Marisa Kirby (Baby), Ira Kramer, and Ethan Paulini.
These artists will be joined by the newly announced Sara Jean Ford (The Phantom of the Opera, Cats) and Ta'Rea Campbell (The Book of Mormon, The Lion King).
Gallery, featuring a book, music, and lyrics by Kleban, is described in press notes as a "funny and touching musical that explores our relationship to the challenges of life, art, and our self-acceptance."
The workshop presentations will also have choreography by Valerie C. Wright, music direction by Andrew Morrissey, and music supervision by Deniz Cordell.
Originally in development by Joe Papp at The Public Theater in the early '80s, Gallery, under the direction of Maltby Jr., never made it to production before Kleban’s death in 1987.
