Roundabout Theatre Company has announced casting for Holiday Inn, The New Irving Berlin Musical. Based on the Oscar-winning film, the cast of the new Broadway production will be led by Tony nominees Bryce Pinkham and Megan Lawrence, playing Jim and Louise, along with Broadway actors Megan Sikora and Lora Lee Gayer playing Lila Dixon and Linda, respectively.
The cast will also include Corbin Bleu (In the Heights, Godspell) as Ted and Tony nominee Lee Wilkof (Kiss Me, Kate; Breakfast at Tiffany's) as Danny. Additional casting will be announced at a later date.
Directed by Greenberg and choreographed by Denis Jones, Holiday Inn, The New Irving Berlin Musical is scheduled to begin previews September 1 and officially open October 6 for a limited engagement at Studio 54.
The musical, which debuted at Goodspeed in 2014, features music and lyrics by Irving Berlin and a book by Gordon Greenberg and Chad Hodge, inspired by the 1942 film.
It tells the story of Jim, who leaves the bright lights of show business for the peace and quiet of a Connecticut farmhouse. “He quickly discovers life isn’t the same without a bit of song and dance,” state production notes. “Jim’s luck takes a spectacular turn when he meets Linda, a spirited schoolteacher with talent to spare. Together they turn the farmhouse into a fabulous inn with dazzling performances to celebrate each holiday, from Thanksgiving to the Fourth of July. But when Jim’s best friend Ted tries to lure Linda away to be his new dance partner in Hollywood, will Jim be able to salvage his latest chance at love?”
The musical features over 20 classic songs from the Irving Berlin catalogue, including “Steppin’ Out With My Baby,” “Shaking the Blues Away,” “Easter Parade,” “Cheek to Cheek” and “Heatwave.”
The creative team for Holiday Inn, The New Irving Berlin Musical will include Anna Louizos (sets), Alejo Vietti (costumes), Jeff Croiter (lights), Keith Caggiano (sound), Joe Dulude II (make‐up), Chuck LaPointe (wigs), Andy Einhorn (music director/ supervisor), Larry Blank (orchestrations), Sam Davis (vocal and dance arrangements), Bruce Pomahac (additional dance and vocal arrangements) and John Miller (music coordinator).
