Will Ferrell and Ryan Reynolds will be humbugging on the big screen this holiday season in the new movie Spirited from Apple Original Films. Based on the Charles Dickens classic A Christmas Carol, the new musical stars Ferrell as the Ghost of Christmas Present who visits one dark soul each Christmas Eve, but this year's "Scrooge" (Reynolds) turns the tables and has the ghost reexamining his own past, present, and future.
The movie will premiere in theatres November 11, followed by a global streaming release on Apple TV+ November 18. Check out the first official teaser trailer for the film above.
Spirited also stars Octavia Spencer, Sunita Mani, Tony nominee Patrick Page (Hadestown), Joe Tippett (Waitress), Marlow Barkley, and Jen Tullock.
The movie, directed by Sean Anders and written by Anders and John Morris, features original songs by Dear Evan Hansen's Tony-winning lyricist and composer, Benj Pasek and Justin Paul. Choreography is by Chloe Arnold, Emmy-nominated for her work on The Late Late Show with James Corden.
Producers include Anders and Morris through Two Grown Men, David Koplan, George Dewey through Maximum Effort Productions, and Ferrell and Jessica Elbaum through Gloria Sanchez. Pasek and Paul executive produce, along with Diana Pokorny.
