Looks like all those years following rock bands has paid off. We have photo evidence that Cameron Crowe plays a really mean air guitar.
The cast of the new musical Almost Famous, based on Crowe's 2000 film of the same name, hit the recording studio this week to record their original Broadway cast album. The recording will be released digitally as well as on CD and a 2-LP vinyl March 17 from Sony Masterworks Broadway. Ahead of the full release, the production plans to drop Almost Famous The Musical - 1973 Bootleg EP on 12-inch vinyl in December.
The new musical, with a book and lyrics by Crowe and music and lyrics by Tom Kitt (Next to Normal), officially opened November 3 at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre—click here to read the reviews. Set in 1973, the autobiographical story tells of Crowe's own teen years as a young music journalist hired by Rolling Stone to follow a middling rock band on tour.
