The upcoming national tour of the Broadway hit Hamilton has announced its first upstate New York stop. The show will play Proctors Theatre in Schenectady at dates to be announced in the 2018–19 season.

The national tour of Hamilton launches March 10 at the Orpheum Theatre in San Francisco.
Michael Luwoye, the current Alexander Hamilton alternate on Broadway, will take on the starring role in the tour. In 2016, Luwoye became the first actor to portray both Hamilton and Aaron Burr.
Joining Luwoye will be Tony nominee Joshua Henry as Aaron Burr. Rory O’Malley will also repeat his performance as King George III on the road.
The cast will include Rubén J. Carbajal as John Laurens/Phillip Hamilton; Jordan Donica as Marquis De Lafayette/Thomas Jefferson; Amber Iman as Peggy Schuyler/Maria Reynolds; Isaiah Johnson as George Washington; Solea Pfeiffer as Eliza Hamilton; Emmy Raver-Lampman as Angelica Schuyler; and Mathenee Treco as Hercules Mulligan/James Madison.
Completing the cast are Ryan Alvarado, Raymond Baynard, Amanda Braun, Daniel Ching, Karli Dinardo, Jeffery Duffy, Jennifer Geller, Jacob Guzman, Julia Harriman, Afra Hines, Sabrina Imamura, Lauren Kias, Yvette Lu, Desmond Newson, Desmond Nunn, Josh Andrés Rivera, Raven Thomas, Ryan Vasquez, Keenan D. Washington, and Andrew Wojtal.
The tour is scheduled to stay in San Francisco through August 5, followed by a stop at the Hollywood Pantages Theatre in Los Angeles August 11–December 30.

Two other productions of the hit musical are underway outside New York.
A “sit down” production opened at the PrivateBank Theatre in Chicago September 27, 2016, for at least a year. It is separate from the national tour. A London production opens at the Victoria Palace Theatre in November 2017.
Hamilton is the winner of the 2016 Pulitzer Prize for Drama. With book, music, and lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda, direction by Thomas Kail, choreography by Andy Blankenbuehler, and musical direction and orchestrations by Alex Lacamoire, Hamilton is based on Ron Chernow’s biography of America’s Founding Father Alexander Hamilton.
