Ben Weatherill’s new comedy Frank and Percy, which began performances in London September 8, officially opened September 26, and the reviews are rolling in. Directed by Sean Mathias, the limited run stars Ian McKellen as Percy and Roger Allam as Frank. The production will play The Other Palace through December 17, extended from the original closing date of December 3.
Centering on an unexpected relationship between two men, spurred on by the connection between their two dogs, Frank and Percy stars McKellen as Percy, a somewhat radical elder statesman, and Allam as Frank, a widowed school teacher. As their dogs play in the park, the pair attempt to parse out the messy realities of human connection in contrast to predictable canine behavior.
