News Producer Ken Davenport Joins Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Really Useful Group The Broadway producer will serve as North American executive producer.

Andrew Lloyd Webber has announced that Broadway producer Ken Davenport (Spring Awakening, Godspell, Kinky Boots) will head up Really Useful Group’s North American arm. RUG is theatre producing and rights licensing company that controls the theatrical rights for all of Lloyd Webber’s works.

In his role as Executive Producer for North America, Davenport will oversee RUG’s growing stateside reach, including the Broadway productions of The Phantom of the Opera, School of Rock – the Musical and Cats. Also on deck is a North American tour of the Phantom sequel Love Never Dies, as well as tours of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, The Wizard of Oz, Jesus Christ Superstar, Evita and others.

Davenport will still maintain his own independent producing ventures.

“When one of the greatest contributors to the art of musical theater asks you to look after his shows here in the States, you don't just say yes. You say, ‘Absolutely-without-a doubt-unquestionably-and-when-do-I-start-yes,’ Davenport said in a statement. I'm honored and thrilled to work with such an extraordinary organization with such a steeped history on Broadway and around the world. I look forward to helping play a part in its future.”

Davenport’s producing credits include Deaf West Theatre’s Spring Awakening, It’s Only a Play, Macbeth starring Alan Cumming, Godspell, Kinky Boots,The Visit, Mothers and Sons, The Bridges of Madison County, Allegiance, Chinglish, Oleanna, Speed-the-Plow, Will Ferrell's You're Welcome America Blithe Spirit starring Angela Lansbury, as well as Off-Broadway’s
Altar Boyz, Daddy Long Legs and more.
