Primary Stages has announced the lineup for its 35th anniversary season, which will launch October 29 with Remember to Live, a new play written by and starring Kinky Boots Tony Award winner Billy Porter. Told through the eyes of an African-American gay filmmaker, the play centers on the stories of five gay men—having lived through the AIDS crisis—who are grappling with sex, intimacy, redemption, and love. Sheryl Kaller, who directed the Primary Stages premiere of Porter’s While I Yet Live, returns for the actor-playwright’s latest work. Performances run through December 22.

Tony nominee Charles Busch returns to Primary Stages with his latest play The Confession of Lily Dare, running January 8–March 4, 2020. Longtime collaborator Carl Andress directs Busch in his theatrical parody of one woman’s tumultuous passage from convent girl to glittering cabaret chanteuse to infamous brothel madam—all while hiding her undying devotion to the child she was forced to abandon.

The season will conclude with Peerless, playwright Jiehae Park’s modern twist on Macbeth, running May 12–June 28. Set in the cutthroat world of college admissions, the dark comedy tells the story of twin Asian-American siblings who turn to murder when a classmate (who is one-sixteenth Native American) claims "their spot" at an elite university. Margot Bordelon directs.

All performances take place at the Cherry Lane Theatre (38 Commerce Street). Visit primarystages.org.
