Full given name: |
Julie Karen White |
Hometown: | Austin, Texas |
Audition song: | I have not auditioned for a musical in donkey years, but when I did, I sang "Sam, You Made the Pants Too Long." |
Special skills: | I can clean a catfish. |
First Broadway show ever saw: | Company when I was ten years old. My grandparents took me, and while it was probably inappropriate for a ten-year-old, I loved it. |
If you could go back in time and catch any Broadway show, what would it be? | I guess I would have loved to see Barbra Streisand in Funny Girl. |
Current show you have been recommending to friends: | I loved Spring Awakening. Off-Broadway: I have a list of things I want to see. |
Favorite showtune: | "Oh, What a Beautiful Morning" from Oklahoma! Just start singing it when you wake up, and your day will be better. |
MAC or PC? | MacBook Pro. It's new-ish and so cool. |
Most played song on your iPod: | Have no iPod — insane right? — but checked most played on iTunes and see Cat Stevens' "Peace Train" is #1 right now. |
One CD you couldn't live without: | At the moment Christina [Aguilera]'s "Back to Basics" makes me pretty happy. |
Must-see TV show: | "Lost," any golf tourney that Tiger Woods is playing in, and Dallas Cowboy football games. |
Last good movie you saw: | "The Namesake," "Jackass Number Two." Go rent "Flags of Our Fathers" immediately. It is amazing. |
Favorite board/card game: | Scrabble, I'm really good at it. |
Performer you would drop everything to go see: | Britney Spears |
Pop culture guilty pleasure: | Britney Spears |
First stage kiss: | Gee, I guess in high school when I played Annie in Annie Get Your Gun. I kissed Frank Butler at the end, didn't I? |
Favorite pre-/post-show meal: | I love a meat and potatoes kinda feed after the show. I try not to eat much before or else you feel like you are lugging around an anvil up there! |
How you got your Equity card: | Got my Equity card thanks to Stephen Schwartz and Joseph Stein casting me in a Chicago production of The Baker's Wife. I was 21 years old. Thank you guys! |
Worst stage mishap: | My worst mishap was probably the most recent. I showed up at Little Dog at 2:20 on a Sunday when the show was scheduled to start at 2! I thought it was at 3! And had been leisurely shopping at Bed Bath & Beyond, sans phone(!) killing time before my 3 o'clock matinee. Whoops. |
Who have you played on "Law & Order"? Which edition? | I am sort of the "Where's Waldo?" of the original "Law & Order." I have played two different witnesses that were sort of no help at all. Once, George Dzundza questioned me, once Paul Sorvino. More recently I have played neurosurgeon Dr. Anne Morella four times on "SVU." Whenever anyone has a catastropic head injury, I am the go-to gal that comes on and explains it. |
Worst costume ever: | Mine have all been pretty good, although the bra and thong that I appeared in (briefly) in Theresa Rebeck's Bad Dates did sort of give me pause. |
Cats or dogs? | Little dogs...specifically my little pomeranian Lulu. I'm hoping to get a chicken soon, too. I've always wanted a couple of little hen. |
Favorite cereal: | Skinner's Raisin Bran |
Worst job you ever had: | I was one of those people who sprays perfume on you at Bloomingdale's. Talk about giving yourself a headache! |
