Polls Which Classic Fairy Tale Would You Like to See Musicalized? We polled readers via Facebook and Twitter.

Hansel and Gretel

A number of Playbill.com readers are keen to see this well-known Brothers Grimm story take to the Broadway stage. Already previously produced as an opera in New York City and earlier this year at the National Theatre in London,  "Hansel and Gretel" tells the story of two young children who are almost eaten by a witch who lives in a cottage made of candy. We'd love to see that, too - especially the candy house!

Jeremy Cole: Rumpelstiltskin

Another Brothers Grimm tale, "Rumpelstiltskin" tells the story of an imp who tricks a young girl into promising him her first-born child. The girl is blackmailed by the imp as she's been forced by the King to spin a room full of straw into gold, an impossible task. Who wouldn't be impressed by a stage full of gold? This would make a shimmering musical.

Gina Guarino: Sleeping Beauty! Just imagine the amazing costumes, sets and makeup (and due to the recent success of Maleficent movie…it would make $$$)

Sleeping Beauty

"Sleeping Beauty" is another classic fairy tale that has been adapted into numerous films, including the well-known Walt Disney version. It tells the story of a princess who is cursed into a 100-year sleep, only to awake when kissed by a prince. This year Angelina Jolie plays the title role in the film version of "Maleficent," the untold story of the iconic villain.

Diana Puertas: ANASTASIA. I think it would be a beautiful musical to be brought on stage. Then get Angela Lansbury to reprise her role as the grandmother : )

We agree! It would likely be very beautiful. Word of the musical has been circulating for some time now and industry latest is that it is still in development. You can read an earlier Playbill.com story hereAnastasia recounts the story of a lost Russian princess who takes a journey into her past to find her identity.

Sebastian: Puss in Boots

Puss in Boots

Could Antonio Banderas be persuaded to play the cheeky Puss in Boots on Broadway? That's a show we'd go and see! An old European fairy tale, it tells the story of a cat who uses trickery and deceit to gain power, wealth and a princess' hand in marriage.

Candace Whitfield: The Princess and the Frog

The Princess and the Frog

Another Brothers Grimm story turned Walt Disney musical animated film, this is a story with a frog-load of Broadway musical potential. The original fairy tale, "The Frog Prince" is about a young prince who is cursed and turned into a frog. Only a kiss can save him...again!
