News Pics! Elizabeth Rodriguez, Kate Mulgrew, Adrienne C. Moore and More Celebrate the Opening of Marjorie Prime The Playwrights Horizons production of 2015 Pulitzer Prize finalist Marjorie Prime by Jordan Harrison officially opened Dec. 14, following previews that began Nov. 20 Off-Broadway. Directed by Obie winner Anne Kauffman, the cast is led by two-time Tony nominee Lois Smith. Friends came out to join the celebration!

Performances at Playwrights Horizons’ Mainstage Theater, run through Jan. 3, 2016.

The cast of the New York premiere also features Noah Bean, Lisa Emery and Stephen Root.

The show is set in the age of artificial intelligence and follows an aging woman as she grapples with her past. "86-year-old Marjorie (Smith) – a jumble of disparate, fading memories – has a handsome new companion (Bean) who’s programmed to feed the story of her life back to her. What would we remember, and what would we forget, if given the chance?" ask press notes. "In this richly spare, wondrous new play, Jordan Harrison explores the mysteries of human identity and the limits – if any – of what technology can replace."

As previously reported, the play is currently being adapted into a film starring Smith, Jon Hamm, Geena Davis and Tim Robbins, among others.

The staging features scenic design by Laura Jellinek, costume design by Jessica Pabst, lighting design by Tony Award nominee Ben Stanton and sound design by Daniel Kluger.

Playwrights Horizons’ Mainstage Theater is located at 416 West 42nd St. For more information and to purchase tickets, visit PlaywrightsHorizons.org.
