The new season debuted with a two-episode drop April 5, with four more set to hit the streamer each Wednesday through May 3. As always, Playbill is here to walk fans through each episode of the musical theatre send-up series, making sure you catch every last reference.
The cast also features Ariana DeBose, Jaime Camil, Martin Short, and Dove Cameron, who like most of the cast are returning from the series' first season (Burgess, along with Hadestown star Patrick Page, are newcomers). The first season featured original numbers that parodied the song styles and scenes of classics like Oklahoma!, Camelot, and, of course, Brigadoon, earning the series a loyal following of theatre fans and an Emmy Award.
Surrounded by period-accurate, 19th-century holiday decorations lit via candlelight, the 70-minute production is based on Dickens' own script of the classic.
The play comes on the heels of a broader cultural conversation about Dahl's work and the prejudice that was embedded in many of his most beloved stories.
